Greek Goddess Costumes

With Halloween and Carnival approaching, what better idea than Greek goddess costumes? In fact, the idea came to me when I read one of your comments, so I decided to make some special pages about costumes inspired from Greek mythology.

I won't really teach you how to make them, I'll just point out what are the basic features that a certain costume should have, so as to be immediately identified as the goddess you chose. After all, it's not that the ancient Greek outfits were very differentiated, that's why the most important things are the correct accessories.

About the ancient outfits: the best known are the "peplos" and the "chiton". At this link
http://karascope.com/_samplefiles/history_y56_samples.pdf
you can find a pdf, on page 5 there are instructions about how to make a peplos/chiton: fold a sheet in two parts with different widths, pin it on the shoulders and tie it at the waist. You can make the folded part narrower, and you put the belt under it (and then it's a chiton), or you can make it wider and tie the belt over it (and it'll be a peplos) - in this case, it will look like a shorter skirt over a longer skirt. This is the basis for an easy to make Greek goddess Halloween costume (or Carnival, or themed-ball costume, of course!). After that, you will be able to differentiate the Greek goddess costumes by accessorizing them.

Sidebar: I haven't made the link a live one, because I want to leave the decision of downloading the file to you. Please copy and paste the link in your browser, it is a pdf file. Or else copy it in the search box of a search engine and then click on it to open, or right click to download the file (it is about Greek theatre). End of sidebar!
